What is Cisco CCNA Certification?

With the advent in the Information Technology, it has become imperative for the various IT giants and corporations to bring in various competitive examinations to attract and retain the best available talent. As the primary asset in any knowledge based industry is the employee, the companies are leaving no stone unturned to derive the best and the cream of the talent.

With the same purpose and objective, Cisco has introduced the Cisco Certified Network Associate Examination. More popularly known as CCNA, this is one the most popular and widely known examination in the domain of Networking and Hardware.

This examination is basically for those IT professionals, who wish to further enhance their expertise and level of understanding in the Networking domain. The potential candidates will have an in-depth knowledge of the designing, configuring, implementing and trouble-shooting the various Network Applications and Software.

As per the new curriculum, this examination will now cover the topics from the relative examination: Interconnection Cisco Network Devices (ICND) course as well as the new Introduction to Cisco Networking Technologies (INTRO) course.

• Basic Local Area Network (LAN): Design and Planning
• Internet Protocol (IP): Designing and Planning as per the Business Requirement

• Wide Area Network (WAN): Configuration and Deployment, as per the Business Architecture
• Configuration of the IP domains, subsets and Routers
• Troubleshooting: Optimal utilization of OSI layers

Although there are no official guidelines regarding the pre-requisites for this examination, it is highly recommended that the potential candidates for this exam should have hands-on experience on the networking and hardware domain. Such an experience will make the candidate more familiar with the examination topics, and thus assisting him/her to clear the examination in the first go.
